A boring weekend or any part of the day, in that case, make one turn to various sorts of entertainment options. And the best accessible option is always tuning in to a TV channel like FOX on Spectrum to watch interesting shows. Some channels do not air entertaining shows but FOX has a good variety of shows. Some of the TV shows that you should definitely watch include:
Table of Contents
1. Family Guy
Family Guy is an American sitcom. This animated series features the Griffin family and the adventures that the family encounters. The stay-at-home wife Lois and ignorant Peter have three kids. All three children have different personalities. Meg who also happens to be the eldest child is a social outcast. While the middle kid Chris (a teenager) is always awkward around the opposite sex.
When it comes to the youngest child Stewie, he is nothing less than a genius. His ideas to kill his mother and destroying the world are totally amazing. The family is also a proud owner of a dog. The unusual talking dog Brian always keeps an eye on Stewie while he enjoys his martinis. And solves his own life issues.
Family Guy is a universally acclaimed show whose first episode aired in 1999. Now in its 17th season, Family Guy has received Primetime Emmy Awards nominations 12 times. Apart from that, the show received 11 Annie Award nominations. It won three of each award it got nominated for. Despite all this, Family Guy has also faced some criticism from people comparing it to The Simpsons.
2. The Simpsons
The Simpsons are by far the longest-running scripted primetime TV shows in the States. Now in its 30th season, this long-running animated comedy focuses on the life of a family that lives in Springfield in a state unnamed. The head of the family, homer, is not your typical family guy. He is an employee in a nuclear plant who tries his best to lead his family. However, he often finds that his family is leading him.
The Simpsons received acclaim throughout its ninth as well as tenth seasons. These two seasons are dubbed as the show’s ‘Golden Age.’ Not only this but in the year 2000, the Simpson family received a star by its name on Hollywood Walk of Fame. It should not come as a surprise when I mention that the show has won dozens of awards as well.
The list of awards that the show won includes 31 Primetime Emmy Awards, Peabody Award, and 30 Annie Awards.
3. Glee
Glee is an American comedy musical drama series that aired between 2009 and 2015. The show revolved around a fictitious glee club formed by students in William McKinley High School. The name of the club in the show was New Directions. Throughout the show, the members of the club are seen dealing with rather serious issues that included issues related to race, sexuality, teamwork, and relationships.
During its first season, Glee received positive reviews from critics. The season also received nominations for 19 Emmy Awards, 6 Satellite Awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards. It won the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series- Musical or Comedy.
4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an American police sitcom. The whole series revolves around Jake Peralta who happens to be a talented but immature NYPD detective. Peralta often comes into conflict with his new commanding officer who is also a rather serious character, Captain Raymond Holt.
The first season of the series was supposed to feature 13 episodes. But it expanded to 22. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a critically acclaimed series that received rather good reviews for the show’s cast. Not only has the cast received an acknowledgment, but the show also bagged two Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Apart from that, Samberg has also received Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
This series also won a GLAAD Media Award in the category of Outstanding Comedy Series. There has been a lot of speculation around the series as well. In 2018, FOX first canceled Brooklyn Nine-Nine after five seasons. Only to announce the sixth season the following day. It is now in its seventh season and viewers continue to watch it with the same interest. Because the detectives featured in the series are nothing like your ordinary detectives. Or the image of detectives that you have in mind.
So, if you wish to relish watching these critically acclaimed shows, tune in to FOX. And if you wish to enjoy some more shows, ask your cable operator what channel is CW on Spectrum or any other network that you have subscribed to. CW also airs some very famous shows including Arrow and Riverdale.
